Finding it very difficult to have free time to work on tractor.
Engine was stripped in December for inspection, good job to, as no 5 main had been picking up a bit of heat from the thrust bearings and was just about to cause real trouble. Thankfully no obvious damage to shaft. Crank will be cleaned up and fitted with new bearings. The rest of the motor will be going back as per 2007. New engine oil pump was fitted during last season which has boosted oil pressure enormously to comfortably 100psi when hot. We are thinking that we need to preheat the engine oil like we do with the water prior to starting the engine, we have a few ideas to follow up on this. The only real change for 2008 will be the fitting of a hypermax water injection valve, as we discovered last year at gt eccey the old max simpson valve is sticking.
We now have an engine stand for working on the engine while it is out of the tractor (pics in gallery)
Also have done a bit of work to our scania transporter. Living accommodation is internally finished, needing to organise a clean water and waste water tank to sling on the chassis to complete the job.
I have been working on the back of the truck during feb,9pics in gallery) when I have beavertailed the floor down about 9” at the back and raised the roof of the box 2’ to let the tractor in with the cage on. So we now have a speed bump on the roof of the lorry box!
The lorry chassis had to be replaced where it had been cut away to fit a tail lift (now redundant), all in all took quite a bit of time to sort out the steel work at the back, but worst of all getting the back 8’ prepped and repainted !!
However lorry is on hold just now while day work and farm work (evenings ) take precedent. Broken weather is holding up carrot drilling , snow today has halted work again.
I need to start putting pistnbroke engine back up to get the tractor ready for promotional photos for fife show, also new side panels need fabricated to meet new regs!
Clutch was inspected in Feb and passed with a clean bill of health.

After the turbo blew up at the Fife show we have been busy repairing the damage to the head and inlet manifold etc.
Interestingly when testing the inlet manifold after repairing the damage, we discovered that it was far from airtight and seems to have been like this all along. Hopefully having repaired the leaking manifold we will scavenge some extra boost pressure.
We are also working away at our hauler beginning to fit out the living accomodation with the help of a friend.
We intend to be at Keith show and Gt Eccelston if all goes well.
Just back from a holiday in Missouri, U.S.A. Where we attended a Grand National Tractor Pull in Montgomery City and saw some excellent pulling, Including some Super Semi Trucks. Photos of this event should follow soon.
